Why can't I hear civil defense sirens indoors?: Outdoor warning sirens are designed to be heard outside. While the sirens are incredibly loud, they are not intended to be heard inside your home. The Division of Emergency Management highly recommends purchasing a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather alert radio, making this your best source for comprehensive weather and emergency information. These radios can be purchased from local retailors or on-line.

1. Can I Visit the EOC?: The EOC is a secure facility that is only open to authorized personnel. If you wish to tour the EOC during normal business hours, please contact the Division of Emergency Management. During an activation, the EOC will be secured and access will be restricted to authorized personnel. Information about an emergency will be disseminated through the city's website, ERTv, local media and press statements.
