How long does it take to get a permit?

Permits are processed in the order they were received. Processing is also affected by the current work load of city staff since there is a natural fluctuation in the number of permits we are receiving on a daily basis. Therefore, turn-around times are subject to change without notice. Please allow ample time for review PRIOR to beginning your project. 

  • Commercial permits take approximately 2-3 weeks. 
  • All other commercial permits take approximately 3-5 business days
  • Residential permits that require a plan review (i.e. garages, additions, decks, remodeling, etc.) take approximately 1-2 weeks. 
  • Residential "over-the-counter" permits will be issued within 1-2 business days (i.e. roofing, siding, windows, appliance replacement, etc.)
  • Note: Projects that involve a variance or other land use requirements may require additional time for review.
