If you live within city limits, you can obtain a burning permit from the front desk at City Hall (13065 Orono Parkway) or download a request form here. If you live outside of city limits, you can either contact a Fire Warden or purchase a permit online at the MN DNR website. Review the Burning Map for information on Open Burning Permits in Elk River. Please note: Elk River Fire does not conduct controlled burns.

No; the fire department does not fill private swimming pools or skating rinks. The use of city water and city equipment to fill private pools or skating rinks is prohibited. There are businesses in the area that are able to provide this service to citizens.
The fire department does not conduct car seat inspections or take take expired car seats for recycling purposes. Due to expense and security concerns, we are unable to honor requests for uniform patches or other memorabilia. Patches, t-shirts, etc are property of the City of Elk River and are only issued to active fire department personnel.
To determine the distance from your house to the closest fire station, use Google Maps. Enter your address, as well as the address for one of the two fire stations. The addresses for the fire stations are: Fire Station #1 - 415 Jackson Ave and Fire Station #2 - 13073 Orono Pkwy.

The fire department does not bring fire trucks to private birthday parties, grand openings, side walk sales, etc. Fire truck visits are only considered for educational, charitable, or town sanctioned events. If you would like to request a fire truck for your event, complete the Fire Truck Request form and a representative from the department will contact you.

Please note that the fire department does respond to car crashes; however, fire department personnel do not conduct investigations on these types of incidents. To obtain a copy of a crash report, contact the law enforcement agency that was on scene.
