Volunteering 101- February 9 at 10:00 a.m.
Join AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP representative, Heather Brooks, for a fun filled session to learn more about what it takes and what it means to volunteer. Volunteers come in all ages and abilities as there are many opportunities to serve our community. From delivering meals to knitting hats, there’s an opportunity for everyone. Deadline to register is February 8.
Red Hat Meeting- February 12 at 10:30 a.m.
Come find out what the Red Hat Group has been up to! This is a great opportunity to meet people and make new friends. Be sure to wear your red hat and purple outfit to the meeting. Deadline to register is February 11.
History Buffs Presentation- February 18 at 9:30 a.m.
Mike Brubaker from the Sherburne History Center will discuss the First Ladies of the White House. Deadline to register is February 16.
Yahtzee- February 18 at 1:30 p.m.
Give Yahtzee a try! Fun to play and easy to learn if you have never played before. Deadline to register is February 16.
The United States Flag Presentation- February 19 at 11:00 a.m.
The United States Flag is an important, perhaps, the most important symbol of our identity and national pride. The history of the Flag reflects the history of our nation itself. Join presenter David Jones as he discusses the origins, evolution and the symbolism of the United States Flag. David Jones has been presenting on historical topics since 1996 to over 40,000 people. Deadline to register is February 16.
Home Program Presentation- February 23 at 11:00 a.m.
Are you over 60 and living in your own home and wish to remain in your home as long as possible? Come and learn about the HOME Program from Joe Kaul, HOME program coordinator with Senior Community Services. Some of their services include: minor home repair, home safety checks, lawn mowing, snow removal, painting, general yard work, general housekeeping duties. Deadline to register is February 19.
Watercolor Painting Class- February 26 at 10:00 a.m.
Learn how to paint a river landscape using watercolor painting techniques. You will learn how to sketch out a composition that has depth and interest and then we will discuss mixing color in order to create unique landscapes. “Wet on wet” and “dry” painting methods and a variety of brush strokes to finalize our creations will be utilized. Each participant will be given their own materials and class size will be limited. Heather Barr from Rum River Art Center will be the instructor. Deadline to register is February 23.
