If you missed the Monday, June 6 Elk River City Council meeting, check out a few of the highlights that were discussed:
Consent Agenda:
- Annual liquor license renewals, on-sale 3.2 and consumption and display licenses for Pinewood Golf Course and a temporary on-sale liquor license for American Legion Post #112 for the Sherburne County Fair.
- A transfer of $250,000 from the Liquor Fund to the Park Improvement Fund to pay for future park improvements.
- The Final Plat and Development Agreement for Broadway on 10, which allows for the construction of a market-rate apartment building near Business Center Drive and Yankton St.
- Planned Unit Development for Evergreen Townhomes to construct 14 homes off of Line Ave.
- The Final Plat and Development Agreement for Miske Meadows 8th Addition approving 61 single family homes and the final phase of Miske Meadows near Twin Lakes Elementary.
- A proposal to construct 13 trail lights between Gary St. and the western limits of the Lake Orono bridge.
- Initiated a Subwatershed Hydrologic Modeling Study to identify and seek solutions to a stormwater issue impacting Morton Ave. from 4th St. between Proctor and Norfolk.
- Hired Mason Gates as a part-time community service officer who is preparing for a career in law enforcement.
Presentations, Awards and Recognitions:
- Welcomed new Custodian Bill Creger and Building Inspector Joel Boutin. Building Official Mark Pistulka introduced Mr. Boutin.
- Proclaimed June 17, 2022 as Owen DeCathlineau Day in Elk River to honor the firefighter who is retiring after over 20 years of faithful service.
- Recognized Firefighter Terry Elliot for his 30 years of faithful service.
- Received the 2021 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report from the independent city auditor BergenKDV.
General Business and Work Session:
- Approved a branding plan for the Furniture and Things Community Event Center to be funded by facility users.
- Called for a public hearing on August 15, 2022, to consider the vacation of the right-of-way between two properties abutting Concord St.
- Discussed operations at ERX Motor Park seeking solutions to noise related concerns, setbacks and hours of operation.
Council meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m., and the third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Elk River City Hall (13065 Orono Parkway). The agenda for a Monday meeting is typically available the Friday before at ElkRiverMN.gov/agendas, and as always meetings are broadcasted live on ErTV Spectrum 180 and on the city’s website, as well as after the fact within 24-48 hours.
