[ARCHIVED] Orono Park Update – May 11, 2022

Orono Park May 11, 2022There’s been lots of action at Orono Park recently, as crews continue construction on many of the Active Elk River enhancements that began last year. New Look Contracting is currently working to complete the new splashpad, sand volleyball court, concrete paths, restroom facility and expanded parking lot. Material is also being brought in to level and grade the green open space in order to make it a more useable area for all types of recreation. We’ll provide an update in late-May as to when residents can expect to see Orono Park fully reopened and ready to enjoy.

Please note, the beach remains closed, and the playground, boat launch and fishing pier are accessible at this time. The new skateboard park at Orono was completed and opened to users last fall, and the city continues to work with the designer of the adjacent pickleball court to make corrections to the court’s slope. If you’re eager to get your pickleball on, check out the courts at Salk Middle School in the meantime!
