- Energy City Commission
- Heritage Preservation Commission
The Energy City Commission promotes Elk River as a hub of energy technology, energy manufacturing, demonstrations, recycling, use of green products and the adoption of sustainable living practices. The current vacancy is for a representative from an energy-related business, commercial or residential customer, or a non-profit organization. This commission meets quarterly on the third Wednesday of February, May, August, and November at 8:00 a.m. at Elk River City Hall.
The Heritage Preservation Commission helps preserve the community's unique identity, culture, and character by protecting significant historic resources from the city's past, in addition to participating in the preservation and acquisition of Elk River’s heritage and historical sites. This commission meets the third Thursday of January, March, May, July, September, and November at 6:00 p.m. at Elk River City Hall.
