Have you ever wondered what happens to the water that goes down your sink after you wash your hands, run the faucet, or flush a toilet? This is called wastewater, and it embarks on quite a journey to eventually become clean, drinkable water. Last year, City of Elk River Wastewater Operator, Andy Kitzman explained this journey in a relatable, understandable, and even humorous way.
In fact, the American Public Works Association (APWA) is honoring “From Faucets to Flushes and Beyond: The Journey of Wastewater” its coveted Exceptional Performance in Journalism award for 2022.
Elk River Public Works staff members will accept the award at the Public Works Expo in Charlotte, NC in late August.
