[ARCHIVED] Orono Park Enhancements Underway

With the next round of Active Elk River enhancements underway at Orono Park, here is what you need to know:

  • Beach/Playground/Dog Park - The beach will not be open summer of 2021. The playground and dog park will remain open throughout the course of construction.Orono Park Update 9.30.21 1
  • Boat Launch - The boat launch will be closed, excluding the Memorial Day and July Fourth holiday weekends. New Look Contracting hopes to be able to open the launch for additional weekend access, however that is determined week-by-week.
  • Parking Lot - The parking lot is closed throughout the duration of project. Those wanting to access the dog park, playground and/or the boat launch (during the select weekend openings) can do so by parking along Gary Street.

We’ll continue to bring you updates on the Orono Park upgrades, construction timelines, and other important information as details become available. Orono Park will soon be home to a splashpad, pickleball court, skateboard park, beach area accessibility improvements, and additional trail connections, as part of the Active Elk River plan.
