Sherburne County Commissioners have approved a $1.5 million grant program to expand broadband service to unserved and underserved areas of the county.
The money will help bring reliable, affordable high-speed internet to more Sherburne County households and businesses, with the funds coming from the America Rescue Plan Act of 2021. All grant applications must be submitted by December 31, 2021. Full details can be found here.
The county’s Broadband Access Grant Program is intended to take advantage of a unique opportunity to use available funds to address disparities in affordable and reliable broadband access to various communities within the County. The County will therefore emphasize proposed project that can demonstrate community engagement and support, including additional financial support from local governments and other organizations, and proposed projects that include an affordability component, to address the immediate needs of county residents and businesses that have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
