In the fall of 2020, our expert tasting team carefully hand-selected two amazing whiskey barrels from the J. Carver Distillery cellars, to be bottled exclusively for Elk River Liquor customers. After bottling, the barrels were then transported to Lupulin Brewery in Big Lake to be immediately filled with a special stout and aged over 6 months to perfectly blend all the delicious flavors.
Fast forward to early August 2021, the delicious Imperial Stout was finally ready for the bottling process, brought to you by our Elk River Liquor experts and the knowledgeable staff at Lupulin!
Elk River Liquor Stores will have 160 bottles of each imperial barrel-aged stout (wheat and bourbon), with tastes almost too difficult to put into words - although we’ll give it a go! The bourbon barrel-aged brew has lots of whiskey at 14.1% alcohol, with tons of chocolate, and a nice heavy mouth feel. The wheat barrel-aged brew is also 14.1% alcohol by volume, and gives a different mouth feel - very silky and creamy, like a really soft caramel.
From the selection of the barrels, to the product selected to age in those barrels, to the environment and temperature of the facility where the aging occurred - we used the combined knowledge of several decades in the liquor industry to create an out of this world product for our Elk River craft beer enthusiasts!
The exclusive 22oz. Sherburne County Imperial Stout, aged in bourbon barrels and in wheat whiskey barrels, will be available for $24.99 at both Northbound and Westbound Liquor Friday, August 27 at 4:00 p.m.
Keep in mind, the bottles from our last exclusive stock sold out in just a few short hours between both stores!
