The next Active Elk River enhancement project at Orono Park will be kicking off soon. Here’s what you need to know:
- Beach/Playground/Dog Park - Beach will not be open this summer. The playground will remain open until mid-summer, we’ll update residents when construction crews have a better idea of when they’ll need to close the play area. The dog park will remain open throughout the course of construction.
- Boat Launch - The boat launch will close on Monday, May 24. Following the closure, the boat launch will only be accessible during the Memorial Day and July Fourth holiday weekends. New Look Contracting hopes to be able to open the launch for additional weekend access, however will not know what that looks like, or when, until the project is further underway.
- Parking Lot - The entire parking lot will close starting Tuesday, May 18 through the duration of project. Those wanting to access the dog park, playground and/or the boat launch (during the select weekend openings) can do so by parking along Gary Street.
We’ll continue to bring you updates on the Orono Park upgrades, construction timelines, and other important information as details become available. Orono Park will soon be home to a splashpad, pickleball court, skateboard park, beach area accessibility improvements, and additional trail connections, as part of the Active Elk River plan.
