[ARCHIVED] Jackson Street Water Tower Restoration

Downtown Elk River DroneA well-known Elk River landmark is undergoing a much-needed makeover. You may have noticed crews on site at the historic Jackson Street water tower recently, kicking off a restoration project by power washing the 137-foot structure. As part of the project, structural damage will be repaired and any missing items replaced. In early May (weather depending), crews will repaint the tower back to its original colors (silver structure and tank with a red roof). The city’s logo will be removed in favor of block letters with the city’s name, completing the original look of the tower.

The Jackson Street Water Tower is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the city secured a grant from the Minnesota Historical Society which covers the majority of the project cost, with the remaining funds coming from a partnership with ERMU.
