Handke Pit continues to be the only public outdoor rink open in Elk River. With snow/rain mix in the forecast for Thursday and Friday (January 14 and 15) please be aware Handke Pit likely won't be cleared again until Saturday, January 16.
Please remember, due to pandemic restrictions, the Handke warming house is not open, however there are additional benches and seating near the skating areas.
The other Elk River outdoor rinks remain closed because of the unseasonably warm temperatures resulting in poor ice-making conditions. However, colder temperatures are on the horizon and Public Works crews plan to have overnight staff working the week of January 18 to get the additional three rinks up and running.
