Due to expected costs necessary to replace aging equipment and make structural, ADA, and use improvements, the city council decided to include senior citizen programming space in the new multipurpose facility. As work continues to transition senior programming from the current Activity Center (55+), located at 413 Proctor Avenue, people are encouraged to visit GovDeals.com to check out some of the items up for sale that will not be moving over to the new facility.
GovDeals provides services to government agencies allowing them to sell surplus assets online. Profits from any items sold will go back into the city’s general fund.
The multipurpose facility, which is being constructed on the site of the existing Elk River Arena, is nearing completion. In addition to senior programming space, the facility will feature two full-sized ice rinks, a 30,000 sq. foot turf field house, lease/retail space, café and concessions areas and community meeting/event space. The multipurpose facility is one of several projects that make up the Active Elk River plan - visit ActiveElkRiver.com to learn more.
