Great River Energy’s (GRE) Elk River Energy Recovery Station has moved from the decommissioning phase to the demolition phase recently. In mid-June, the power plant’s main stack was taken down when crews mechanically demolished the top half of the stack and then tipped the structure which made a precise landing in a pre-planned area. Check out GRE’s YouTube video of the main stack coming down here.
Residents and motorists who may be curious or unfamiliar with what’s happening at the site, are encouraged to visit their designated project webpage for periodic updates. The site of the Elk River Energy Recovery Station is closed to the public to ensure the safety of crews working on site, as well as the public. The facility and grounds are monitored 24/7 by security and trespassing is prohibited.
