People loved the pop up nature activity area that was featured at Oak Savannah Park during the month of June, and now this growing trend in outdoor recreation has moved to Ridgewood East Park (19251 Highland Road) through July 20.
Nature activities offer a different type of play experience than one may have clambering around a commercially manufactured jungle gym or swing set. Nature playgrounds encourage play in a more natural setting: digging, figuring out how to climb a tree, following paths, balancing on logs, building forts and so much more. The final nature play area popping up in Elk River will be at Hillside Park from August 10-24.
These temporary installments are meant to introduce Elk River park-goers to this rapidly growing recreation trend as we lead up to the grand opening of a permanent nature activities area at Woodland Trails Regional Park set to open in the fall of 2020. Check out the city’s Facebook page for more photos of the pop up area at Ridgewood East, and construction progress images at Woodland Trails Regional Park.
