[ARCHIVED] Hillside Park Closed with Spring Thaw Underway

Hillside Closed for Spring ThawMother Nature has been generous with warming temperatures as of late, however for the natural trails at Hillside Park, located at 10801 181st Avenue NW, spring-like temperatures result in sloppy, messy trail conditions. Park volunteers and city staff have decided to close Hillside Park until further notice to all types of outdoor recreation including mountain biking, walking, jogging, hiking, etc. Keeping all traffic off these natural trails during seasonal thaws helps preserve the integrity of the trails to avoid dangerous ruts and washouts that could pose issues for users once the ground has dried up.

Public Works staff have placed barricades in the Hillside Park parking lot, which will be removed as soon as conditions allow for the park’s reopening. We’ll keep everyone posted as to when that will be, in the meantime be sure to check out some of Elk River’s other parks by visiting ElkRiverMN.gov/ParkDirectory.
