It has been a great season (not to mention one of the longest Mother Nature has allowed in the past several years) for Elk River’s four outdoor skating rinks. As of February 25, all outdoor rinks are closed and Public Works crews will no longer be sweeping or flooding, and all hockey nets have been removed. Warming temperatures have created unsafe skating surfaces and with the continued trend in mild temperatures forecasted, crews will shift gears to focus on other seasonal tasks like street sweeping, pothole repairs, etc.
Until next winter, Elk River!
