Some things function best when kept upright - trash carts are one such item. With lots of snow on the way over the next few days Elk River plow operators will be out in full force for the next several days. Just a friendly reminder, if it’s your trash/recycling collection day, keep those cans on the end of your driveway not on the street. Plow operators do their best to avoid obstructions like the one pictured (taken from the seat of a plow) however with large snow events carts can be easily hidden and if in the right-of-way they’re subject to damage.
Garbage collection trucks are able to utilize the long arms they’re equipped with to empty your carts, and plow operators are able to do the most efficient clearing possible on your street! Win, win! Additionally, city staff members have contacted Elk River’s collection companies to remind them of the importance of placing carts back in driveways after collection, not in the right-of-way.
