Construction of the multipurpose facility has been progressing at an amazing pace. Recently, city staff met on site with 292 Design Group and Wells Concrete representatives to preview samples of the precast concrete finish which will adorn the front of the facility.
Fabcon Precast was selected to provide the primary wall structures to support the facility. Fabcon has a reputation for providing versatile, strong and durable wall panels for both budget-friendly and time-sensitive projects.
Wells Concrete products were selected to add character with value to the facility. Their innovative panels improve the function and design for the multiple uses intended in the building by including integral insulation, reinforced concrete exterior facing, and large window openings. The white precast will be used on both the left and right end of the main front elevation, with the grey being the precast in the center of the front elevation.
The panels utilize an “acid etch” finish which produces a clean and refined finish that accentuates the cement color and aggregate. The panels were crafted with custom form liners, a plastic reusable liner that allows a typical flat concrete wall panel to have interesting patterns and designs cast in the concrete.
The new multipurpose facility, currently under construction on the site of the existing Elk River Arena, is one of several projects that make up the Active Elk River plan. Learn more about the enhancements and facility improvements coming to the city by visiting ActiveElkRiver.com.
