[ARCHIVED] Elk River Flag Runners Donate $4,400 to City

Elk River Flag Runners Check PresentationAt the Monday, October 7 City Council meeting, the Elk River Flag Runners, represented in this photo by Michael Kaufmann, presented a donation of $4,400 to Mayor Dietz and Councilmember Wagner. The Flag Runners began raising money earlier this year to fund the installation of a park flagpole to support the Elk River American Legion’s annual Memorial Day event.

Thanks to the efforts of the Flag Runners and a partnership between the Legion and the City of Elk River, a plan that not only provides a home for the Memorial Day event, but also recognition of our nation’s veterans as a whole will soon come to fruition. The donation will be used to help relocate the veterans memorial located on Highway 10 just east of Oxford Avenue to Lion John Weicht Park. Lion John Weicht Park is currently undergoing construction of softball fields and picnic shelter, green space and restroom amenities funded through the Active Elk River project.
