You may have noticed some action in the Hwy 169 corridor this week, as crews completed noise measurement testing in four separate locations as part of the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT)169 Redefine project. Noise measurements are conducted at a time when there is minimal traffic congestion to obtain the most accurate snapshot of traffic noise within a given area. MnDOT will use these measurements to create a noise model which will be used to determine if and where sound barriers are needed to help reduce the impact of current and future traffic noise.
For more on MnDOT’s plan to convert Hwy 169 to a freeway, be sure to stop by the 169 Redefine public open house on Tuesday, October 29 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elk River City Hall, located at 13065 Orono Parkway. Additional project information can also be found online here.
