[ARCHIVED] Message About Lost Pets from Chief Nierenhausen

What to do if you encounter a lost petMany people see posts like this every day on social media – residents either looking for a lost pet, or someone trying to reunite a pet and its owner. In the event you come across a stray cat or dog please contact the Elk River Police Department. We have friendly Community Service Officers who are trained to deal with domesticated animals. The animal will be transported to a warm and inviting kennel at Barrington Oaks until they are reunited with their loving family. While we appreciate all of the good people who try to reunite pets and their owners themselves, it is best (and safest) for people and pets to leave it up to the professionals. Simply dial 911, explain to the dispatcher the situation and they will send out one of our representatives to assist you.

Thank you! - Chief Nierenhausen
