At the August 19 City Council meeting, Acting Mayor Matt Westgaard presented the August Volunteer of the Month award to Elk River resident Nancy Arnold.
Nancy’s volunteerism stretches beyond our city limits, as much of her time is spent helping with the after-school reading program at Independence Elementary School in Big Lake, as well as serving in various volunteer roles with Zimmerman Elementary School. She also stays busy by helping out at the Big Lake Community Food Shelf, and participating in AmeriCorps Foster Grandparent program. Nancy is also actively involved in the planning of the fall festival service program at Camp Courageous, a non-profit organization providing year-round recreational and respite care opportunities for individuals with special needs located in Monticello, IA.
Please join the city in thanking Nancy for her generous contributions and selfless volunteerism.
