Elk River City Hall is now home to a 5 kW solar installation, funded through a Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) grant. MMPA selected the City of Elk River as the recipient of the Hometown Solar Grant because of city hall’s location near the popular Orono Park and adjacent frequently-traveled walking/biking path. As Energy City, Elk River staff members are excited to use the installation for educational demonstrations teaching people how sunlight is converted to energy.
