On Sunday, June 2, everyone is invited to celebrate the last day of ice in The Barn with a full day of FREE family fun! Concessions and skate rentals will be offered, and “I was raised in The Barn” t-shirts will be available for purchase. The schedule of free events for The Barn’s farewell celebration includes:
- 9:30 a.m. Figure Skating
- 11:00 a.m. Mini Mites/U8 Open Hockey
- 12:30 p.m. Mites/Squirts/U10 Open Hockey
- 2:00 p.m. Open Skating
- 4:15 p.m. Peewee/U12 Open Hockey
- 5:45 p.m. Bantam/High School Open Hockey
- 7:15 p.m. Women’s Open Hockey
- 8:45 p.m. Adult Open Hockey
Demolition of The Barn is set to begin this summer as part of the Active Elk River project which includes a new multi-purpose facility on the same site, offering year-round ice, field turf activities, and dry floor events. The facility will also include dedicated space for senior citizens, community meeting/banquet rooms, and a café/retail area. To learn more about Active Elk River, click here.
