The temps are going up and that means many Minnesotans are looking for any reason to get outdoors. You’re invited to spend a beautiful spring evening at William H. Houlton Conservation Area on Wednesday, May 15 alongside staff and volunteers from Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) doing some targeted spring cleaning. Volunteers will be shown how to identify and pull weedy invasive plants that choke out native species. Depending on the weather, fence removal, trash cleanup, and other restoration tasks may be needed as well.
William H. Houlton Conservation Area is a 335-acre property located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Elk Rivers and is one of the largest undeveloped riverfront properties between Elk River and Hastings. RSVP to this event via email to the FMR Volunteer Coordinator or by calling 651.222.2193 ext. 31. Please include the name of the event (William H. Houlton Conservation Area Clean Up), your name, address and phone, and the number of volunteers who plan to attend.
