Looking for some spooky Halloween activities for your family this weekend? Anoka, the “Halloween Capital of the World” is hosting its annual “World’s Largest Halloween Celebration” this Saturday, October 27, and Metro Transit is making it easier than ever to get there to enjoy the parade, 5k run, carnival and more! Ride the Northstar Train from the Elk River Station at 10:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m., and a FREE shuttle from the Anoka Station will bring train customers to and from downtown Anoka. Be sure to head back to Elk River on the 4:27 p.m. Northstar Train, as the 19th annual Spooktacular kicks off at Lion John Weicht Park at 5:00 p.m. and runs through 8:00 p.m. Toddlers to teens are invited to dress up in their best costume for a night of trick-or-treating from participating businesses and organizations, games, a DJ and hay ride, bounce houses, bingo, and more! There will be individual costume contests for kids up to age 4, another for ages 5 to 13, as well as a group/family category for three or more people. Discounted tickets ($3 per participant) are available online here through tomorrow (Friday, October 26), and tickets will also be sold at the door for $5 per participant. Keep in mind, the fee is for those participating in the activities, parents and guardians accompanying children are free of charge.
