Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Here’s your chance - join an Elk River advisory commission! Currently, the City of Elk River is in need of volunteers for the Heritage Preservation Commission, and the Energy City Commission. Advisory commission applications are available by clicking here.
There are two openings on the Heritage Preservation Commission, which reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council on issues pertaining to the historical, archeological, engineering, and cultural heritage of Elk River. Eligible volunteers must reside in Elk River, and be available to attend quarterly meetings on the third Thursday in January, April, July, and October.
Eligible Energy City Commission applicants do not have to be an Elk River resident, however the individual must be a residential or commercial customer of at least one city service (water, sewer, trash collection, and/or electricity). The goal of the Energy City Commission is to promote Elk River as a hub of energy technology and manufacturing through demonstrations, use of “green” products, and the adoption of sustainable living practices. This commission has quarterly meetings on the third Wednesday in February, May, August, and November.
