On Tuesday, September 11 at 4:25 p.m. our office received a report of an assault that took place in Woodland Trails. The assault occurred on Saturday, September 8 at around 6:30 a.m on the paved trail just south of the Co. Rd 33 overpass.
According to the victim she was running on the paved trail when an unknown assailant pushed her down to the ground and then ran away. The victim did not see anyone on the trail but believes they were hiding in the port-a-pot which is located near the exit to Watson Street.
The victim suffered several scrapes and bruises from the fall but is expected to recover.
This is the first assault report our office has received in relation to the Woodland trails park. Although we believe this is an isolated incident it is being taken seriously. Officers will be out in force patrolling the area as well as driving on the trail.
We want our residents and visitors to be aware of their surroundings, always use caution when out alone, if you see something out of the ordinary report it, and always report incidents immediately.
