Mark your calendars for the Fall Clean Up Day set for Saturday, October 20 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Elk River Maintenance Facility, located at 19000 Proctor Ave. This event is open to all Sherburne County residents (with proof of residency), and gives people the opportunity to properly recycle and dispose of unwanted household items for free, or at a discounted cost.
Free items accepted during the cleanup include: auto and household batteries, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, holiday strings of lights, handheld electronics, and scrap metal including bikes, grills, engines, lawn mowers, etc. Larger items like appliances, furniture, televisions, mattresses, and tires will be accepted for a fee ranging anywhere from $3.00 to $30.00 depending on the item(s). Participating residents have the option to print and complete an item drop-off form prior to the Clean Up Day, otherwise those forms will be available on site the day of the event. This form, along with a complete list of accepted items and associated fees are available here.
