With the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) recent funding announcement for the Hwy 169 Redefine project, removing five stoplights along Hwy 169 from the Mississippi River north through Elk River, the City of Elk River has suspended work on the Line Avenue cul-de-sac project. Hwy 169 Redefine is in the early design phase, and without a clear understanding of how this project will impact surrounding local streets (like Line Avenue and others), it is best to suspend the project prior to land acquisition and construction. Designs for Hwy 169 Redefine are expected to be further defined in the fall of 2019, at which time city leaders will reexamine the Line Avenue cul-de-sac project to ensure compatibility with the future improvements slated for the 169 corridor.
