The playground at Deerfield Hill Park (19210 Carson Street) is getting a makeover – after serving area youth with slides, swings, and outdoor fun for more than 26 years! Elk River Parks and Recreation staff members have already started prepping the site for the new play structure, which will double in size compared to the current playground. Residents are welcome to enjoy the park until removal of the old equipment begins in early August, at which time the park will close until mid-September (weather depending) for the installation of the new equipment. The new equipment will include ADA accessible features, and play structures for children of all ages, not to mention park-goer favorites like the boogie board, oodle swing, and roller slide. It’ll also incorporate new features like the space walk, vertical ladder, and portal climber, as well.
Deerfield Hill Park is one of the highest points in Elk River, with beautiful views of the surrounding area. Wanting to capitalize on the picturesque sights, playground designers have incorporated a 12-foot center platform with multiple slides as the centerpiece of the new structure.
