As work on the Highway 10 Lake Orono Bridge Reconstruction project moves forward, motorists are asked to plan ahead, and use extra caution when traveling in the area this weekend as Minnesota Department of Transportation crews prepare for a traffic pattern change. Starting tomorrow (Friday, July 13) through Sunday, July 15, crews will move both directions of traffic onto the new westbound side of the Highway 10 bridge over Lake Orono, so work can begin on the eastbound lanes. Once traffic has shifted, eastbound Highway 10 will be reduced to a single lane, and westbound will include two narrow temporary lanes. Delays during peak travel times, including Friday afternoon/evenings, and Sunday’s as cabin traffic moves through the area, are expected.
This MnDOT project began last April, and includes a full bridge replacement and the addition of a multi-use trail over Lake Orono, reconstructing both directions of Highway 10 from Joplin St. to Xenia Ave., in addition to signal and intersection upgrades. MnDOT anticipates the project will be completed this fall. For more information, please visit MnDOT's website.
