Three intersections in Elk River will soon become a bit safer, thanks to the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) Signalized Reflectorized Backplate Project. In an effort to make traffic signals more visible to motorists, while also reducing the number of crashes, MnDOT will be installing yellow reflectorized strips on the signals located at US 10 at Waco, US 169 at Main, and US 169 at 197th. Throughout the summer, MnDOT plans to apply reflective metal strips on 1,000 stop sign posts, and yellow fluorescent reflectors on 101 traffic signal lights across the state.
