[ARCHIVED] Temporary traffic changes at Highway 10/Joplin Street in Elk River

Motorists in Elk River may encounter delays near the Highway 10/Joplin Street intersection when lanes at the intersection intermittently close, and the signal system is temporarily put into four-way stop mode, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 6.

The lane closures and four-way stop will occur as needed from sunrise to sunset, Feb. 6–8, while crews install a new, permanent signal system at the intersection.

Motorists approaching the Highway 10/Joplin Street work zone should watch for stop and go traffic, slow down and be prepared to stop if necessary.

The new signal system and traffic changes are part of the 2017-2018 New Lake Orono Bridge project in Elk River. When complete in fall 2018, the project will replace the 75-year-old Highway 10 bridge spanning Lake Orono with a new, modern bridge; resurface Highway 10 between Joplin Street NW and Xenia Ave NW; improve the Highway 10/Joplin Street/185th Avenue intersection; construct a new trail between Gary Street NW and Simonet Drive NW; install new drainage infrastructure and make other improvements.
