The City of Elk River is partnering with Sherburne Soil & Water District (SWCD) to conduct a community tree inventory within city parks and other public spaces. This project needs energetic volunteers who care for the environment and their community. The inventory results will help guide future maintenance and planting in public spaces to enhance the beauty and environmental benefits of Elk River’s community trees.
The tentative date for the training will be during the week of May 16th. The date will be selected based on participant availability determined through online survey. The training will last approximately 8 hours, and include classroom and outdoor teaching on tree identification, data entry, tree measurements, and tree health assessment. No prior knowledge or experience with trees is necessary.
Deadline for registration will be on May 2, 2016.
To register contact Gina Hugo, Sherburne SWCD: 763.241.1170 ext. 4 or ghugo@sherburneswcd.org. Once registered you will receive a link to participate in the availability survey.
