Human communication has changed dramatically from the stone tablets, to cave paintings, to quill and pen while communication delivery methods moved from the Pony Express to telegraph wires, postal services, and fiber optics. With the increased use of website, social media, and electronic instruments for communication and commerce, the city has been considering changes with how we distribute information.
The 2016 Summer Parks and Recreation Program Guide will be the last printed and distributed program. Following a city website refresh, all seasonal programming, program information, and enrollment materials will be available online in a more user-friendly format. Residents and customers will receive periodic teasers/flyers informing you of new programs, important dates, and enrollment directions.
The previously posted guides were only mailed to past program participants three times per year. The smaller teaser/flyers will be bulk-mailed to all households in the community.
In January 2017, the community newsletter, the "Current" will also be transitioning. Further, the city website and social media sites will continue to provide timely community information and will promise to be more interactive with users who have suggestions, concerns, or questions.
We know change isn't always easy, so we eagerly await your feedback on these changes that begin later this year. Please contact RaeAnn Gardner, communication coordinator, at rgardner@ElkRiverMN.gov or 763.635.1000.
