Technical Rescue Team 

Established in 2010, the Technical Rescue Team is a team of specially trained firefighters that are equipped to respond to high-risk rescue incidents, such as low/high-angle and confined space emergencies. Each member of the team receives additional training in technical rescue operations and must regularly participate in team drills and exercises. The team has a large cache of specialized equipment, including life safety rope and hardware, advanced patient packaging equipment, personal protective equipment and communications gear.

Honor Guard

The Elk River Fire Department Honor Guard, commanded by Lieutenant Zachary Hoffman, was established in 2016. The team of firefighters trains on a monthly basis in drill and ceremony to stay diligent in their jobs as professional stewards to the fire service community. The Honor Guard promotes a positive image of the fire department and provides fire ceremonial support at a variety of community and statewide events including:

  • Local fallen firefighter funerals - active and retired
  • Parades
  • Posting of Colors at civic events
