In an effort to make Elk RiverFest accessible and fun for everyone, the city has partnered with Sherburne County Public Health and ISD 728 HOPE program to provide Escape Place, this year. Escape Place is an area for attendees with special needs to take a break and relax a bit. Escape Place will be open all day and includes resources for families, fidget spinners, coloring books, a lounge area, and a fun craft.

Fun, games, and friendly competition all day long! Test out your skills of speed, throwing, and battling throughout the day! The afternoon will be capped off with some open kickball games. Schedule of Field Fun events include:
BASE RUNNING | 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
LONGEST THROW | 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.
WATER BALLOON PITCHING | 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
KICKBALL | 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Interactive community conversations for anyone who is interested in how we impact each other as a community and wants to identify what is possible, what resources already exist, and what we wish to build together.

At 1:00 p.m. - Question: What's on your mind about play at all ages in Elk River?
Join us for the inaugural Lions Mile held during Elk RiverFest 2023! You can run as a single or as part of a relay team. If you chose to do the relay you will list your group's names in the registration. The times of each runner will be added up for the relay time. Relay teams must be established before the race.
Single Racers
10:00 a.m. | Adult Runners age 25+
- 10:45 a.m. | Runners 25 and under (1/2 or one mile)
- 10:45 a.m. | One pond loop (recommended for age 10 and under)
Relay Race
Each team must consist of four members for both the youth and/or adult relay races, with each member's total run-time being totaled up after the relay concludes. There are five relay categories to select from:
CATEGORY | REQUIREMENTS |
Open Division | Any combination of ages, must include two females and two males |
Adult/Youth Combo | Two adults 21+ and two people under age 21 |
Youth Division | Two youth ages 13-16 and two youth under age 12 |
Family Division | Two parents and two youth (can be a mix of families) |
Corporate/Public Group Division | Must be any four members from a company, public group, school, or charitable organization with any combination of ages and includes two males and two females |
Registration is required by clicking here, please note there is a suggested donation of $10.00 per runner for a commemorative shirt. Any additional donation would be considered a charitable contribution to support endurance sports in the Elk River area, primarily cross country runnnig and Nordic skiing.
