Fireworks Safety

It’s tradition - parades, cookouts and fireworks to celebrate the summer season, especially our nation's birthday on the Fourth of July. Before you set off the fireworks, plan carefully so no one gets hurt.

  • Always read and follow directions on the label
  • Only light fireworks on a flat surface away from buildings, dry leaves and flammable materials
  • Wear eye protection
  • Light only one item at a time and never re-light a "dud" firework
  • Dispose of fireworks properly. Soak in water before putting in a trash can
  • Have a responsible adult in charge
  • Never give fireworks to children
  • Fireworks are for outdoor use only
