Community Brand - Powered by Nature
In December of 2010, the Economic Development Authority (EDA) authorized staff to begin the branding and marketing initiative.

To create a sense of ownership and pride in the brand, it is important that the brand represent the entire community and accurately reflects the thoughts, perceptions and opinions of those in our community.

Research is imperative to determine our brand. The process used various research methods (both qualitative and quantitative) to gather information: 
  • Stakeholder interviews
  • Focus groups
  • Community tour
  • Online surveys open the community
  • Online surveys for city employees
  • Discover Elk River Facebook page
  • Mystery shoppers, and more

It's vital that we gather information not only from those within our community, but those around us. Included in research was: 
  • City staff from various departments
  • Residents
  • Elected officials
  • Businesses
  • Residents in other communities
  • Businesses who have left Elk River
  • Local and metro developer
